Blitz Exhibition
October 20 to 25 and October 28 to 31 from noon to 7 p.m.
MONOPOLI architecture gallery
181 Saint-Antoine St. West
For the duration of the design workshop, from October 20 to 25, and from October 28 to 31, the MONOPOLI artist centre will become a workshop-watching venue and a space for encounters and exchanges.
The concept developed by MONOPOLI and Design Montréal calls for the three design teams’ creative work to serve as the basis for an exhibition in a work-in-progress format. Each day, the designers will submit the results of their work at MONOPOLI, building toward a final exhibition that will showcase the cumulative results of their workshop process.
MONOPOLI will be the designated strategic space, open to all, where all of the ideas developed by the designers will be on display, and where visitors can immerse themselves in the atmosphere resulting from this intensive creative exercise—spontaneous, feverish, constantly and rapidly evolving.
The final “Imaginer la Place d’Armes” exhibition will be open from November 7 to December 16 during MONOPOLI’s regular opening hours.

Parish Hall – Fabrique Notre-Dame
426 Saint-Sulpice St.

The “Prenez votre place!” (“Stake Your Claim!”) evening, in Pecha Kucha format, will bring together students in urban planning and design from Université de Montréal, Concordia University, McGill University and Université du Québec à Montréal.
The evening will see some 15 urban planning and design students present their opinions on the redevelopment of Place d’Armes to the public and the experts in attendance. This will be followed by conversations, discussions and debates.
Pioneered in Tokyo in 2003 by the firm Klein Dytham, Pecha Kucha—from the Japanese expression for “the sound of conversation”—is the name given to a presentation approach whereby creators from varied disciplines give a description of a project or idea according to a concise format—20 slide images are shown for 20 seconds each. The format has spread to several cities around the world, including Montréal. Pecha Kucha evenings are generally lively and animated, promoting a relaxed atmosphere in which the audience feels entirely free to contribute to the discussion and share ideas (source: SAT and Levendis, Montréal).
